The Detroit Red Wings aren’t a Wild Card team that can be easily dismissed and they proved as much in Game 1 when they held their own against the Boston Bruins until Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk broke the scoreless tie late in the third period.

Now down 1-0 in the series, the Bruins obviously need to find a way to beat Jimmy Howard and will be looking to their top line of David Krejci, Milan Lucic, and Jarome Iginla to lead the charge. The trio was limited to a combined four shots on goal in Friday’s contest.

“We believe in ourselves and each other. One game isn’t going to change that,” said Iginla, per CSN New England. “We have to find ways to create more, and get more zone time. We have to find ways to battle through it a little more. Its playoffs and we’re prepared to do that.”

The game will start at 3:00 p.m. ET and will be on NBC. Alternatively, you can stream the game online:

I’d be willing to bet someone takes a run at Howie today.

    Go Wings

I’ll literally bet ANYONE $1,000 that Lucic does something dirty.

Should see a strong bounce back from the Bruins today. Hopefully game 1 was a slap in the face and woke them up because it gets irritating watching them sleep walk in the first round every year.

Wouldn’t mind seeing someone have a go at Lucic

I love the B’s and wouldn’t blame them. He set the standard for playing dirty, now I wouldn’t mind seeing if he can take what he dishes.

Go Bruins. I say that wishing Lucic got suspended a game for that cheap stuff.

  7. 13datsyuk13 - Apr 20, 2014 at 3:12 PM

That’s not our game, which will frustrate boston even more. GO WINGS!

Seems to be working so far but as much as I am happy right now there is sooooo much time left. You guys worked until the last second to make the playoffs so I doubt you guys will give in after minutes.

That’s why I find myself drinking a little Jameson and washing it down with Mama’s Little Yella Pils[ner].

Detroit isn’t the only team here whose untested youngsters are making a difference. Congrats to Justin Florek who is playing his sixth career NHL game. What a way to get his first goal. Just pure pressure.

The smile on Chara’s face chatting with Smith was priceless. Gotta hand it to Smith for actually dropping the gloves. Kid has some gusto.
