Stamkos returns for Lightning in third period

Apr 20, 2014, 9:28 PM EDT

The Tampa Bay Lightning got a real scare when Steven Stamkos sprawled into Alexei Emelin‘s knee in the second period of Game 3, but the star player remarkably returned to the ice in the final frame on Sunday.

He’s already skated in a couple shifts as of this writing, although with the Montreal Canadiens widening their lead, the Bolts might decide to mostly keep him on the bench for the rest of the game.

Either way, it was a bit surprising to see Stamkos return so quickly. It’s somewhat common to see players return hastily only to miss time later on, so we’ll need to wait and see.

Take another look at the sprawl that left the 24-year-old looking troubled:

Thought there was a concussion protocol.

Its hard to imagine, given how wobbly he was, that he doesn’t have at least a minor concussion. Very surprising to see him back in the game.

You French Canadian p.ussies can go suck a fat one for booing Stamkos as he got up after the hit. It wouldn’t be such a bad thing for chara and company to do something similar to pacioretty as he did in 2011 . Then you pricks will have a real reason to boo and gripe.

Don’t get me wrong, I will hate on everything Montreal as much as the next guy, but I don’t wanna see anyone get hurt. That being said, putting aside everything related to that weasel hockey organization, the people of Montreal are just terrible human beings. Anyone who boos an injured player off the ice deserves to be shot.

I hope the best for Stamkos. He is an absolute beast of a hockey player and it would be a damn shame to see his career end prematurely as a result of an injury he plays through.

Wow, you are something special! If any fans did boo him then shame on them, but wishing what you do is despicable.

away from hockey, i can assure you montréal is a great city … i’ve been at many games in montréal, and the fans are pretty good people … annoyingly smug but i guess they’ve got the cups, some ill-gained, warranting a little conceit

great city, great food and the women … ooooooh

    something special
