And the Lord said, “Behold unto thee, I free you from the sinful oppression and eternal damnation of the shootout. Go forth my children and may you watch endless amounts of hockey. Mary none of you be hosers, and may the Canadiens burn in hellfire.”

    • sportsfaninyyc - Apr 13, 2014 at 8:14 PM

      Somewhat amusing.

      • dreadpiratesteve - Apr 13, 2014 at 9:34 PM

Wildly amusing. Particularly the last sentence. If the Lord actually spoke like that I might go to church.

    • letsgolightning - Apr 14, 2014 at 8:49 AM

Why can’t I thumbs-up this more than once?

      • 101starmymedic - Apr 14, 2014 at 2:35 PM

        12 Canadiens fans I see….

  2. arrow43050 - Apr 13, 2014 at 8:14 PM

Rangers always get screwed with playoff schedule. AGAIN they are scheduled for 3 games in 4 nights in the playoffs. They, along with the Flyers, are the only teams scheduled for 3 in 4. And then people wonder why Lundqvist gets tired in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. For the benefit of the TV schedule, they’ll almost certainly have 3 in 4 in the 2nd round as well if they get that far.

    • dreadpiratesteve - Apr 13, 2014 at 9:33 PM

      Boo Hoo

    • ironmd778 - Apr 13, 2014 at 9:56 PM

      LOL!! Boo freaking hoo….

    • drewzducks - Apr 13, 2014 at 11:11 PM

“They, along with the Flyers, are the only teams scheduled for 3 in 4…” Glad you clarified the Flyers, lest we think the Rangers were playing with themselves.

    • cofran2004 - Apr 14, 2014 at 9:05 AM

both teams have to play the same schedule. If both teams are getting “screwed,” its a wash.

And Lundqvist gets tired becaue the rangers sort of force him to be awesome through the whole playoffs. How about some accountability rather than blaming everything but the team?

Im a rangers fan too, but come on. You sound like a whiner.

      • chaser44 - Apr 14, 2014 at 10:49 AM

THe point being that they are the only two teams in the playoffs with back to back games and 3 in four nights. How is that not a disadvantage to the winner who has to go on and play a team pitt/columbus who got a day off after every single game. Having games 6 and 7 back to back in different cities???? WHAT A JOKE

      • cofran2004 - Apr 15, 2014 at 7:37 AM

I’m going to do something I find extremely distasteful. I’m going to quote a penguins fan yo show you how ridiculous you sound.

“The first 4 games occur over a span of NINE days. The first 5 over a span of 11. The first 6 over a span of 13. Don’t let it go to 7 and none of that is an issue.”

Despite the source, it makes sense. If the series goes that long, they kinda deserve it.

    • hockey412 - Apr 14, 2014 at 11:08 AM

The first 4 games occur over a span of NINE days. The first 5 over a span of 11. The first 6 over a span of 13. Don’t let it go to 7 and none of that is an issue.

  3. the8man - Apr 13, 2014 at 8:27 PM

And as the ugly winter peels away…….Wings! Bruins! Stanley Cup Playoffs! Wow!

    Go Bs!

  4. luz56 - Apr 13, 2014 at 8:30 PM

    I’m liking Colorado vs Pittsburgh…

    • blackhawksdynasty - Apr 13, 2014 at 11:11 PM

That’ll be a fun game to watch – you’ll get to see it probably around Thanksgiving

    • mackattack29 - Apr 13, 2014 at 11:38 PM

I’d bet on colorado being there but not pens… they seem to be on the decline. But who knows.

  5. sportsfaninyyc - Apr 13, 2014 at 8:32 PM

    Habs in 6
    Bruins in 6
    Pens in 7
    NYR in 5
    Avs in 5
    Hawks in 6
    Ducks in 4
    Sharks in 6

    • handsofsweed - Apr 13, 2014 at 9:49 PM

Pens in 7? Wait, when did the NHL expand the first round to best of 13?

      • cofran2004 - Apr 14, 2014 at 9:09 AM

I see what you did there…

    • thephillyfanclub - Apr 14, 2014 at 2:53 AM

Damn New York in 5, we’ll see how that turns out, flyers not getting any respect because of a minor slump towards the end of the season, wasn’t that the team that beat the penguins twice, the blues, stars and Blackhawks all in a week not so long ago. Pretty bold prediction

      • cofran2004 - Apr 14, 2014 at 9:09 AM

I wouldnt be surprised if this went 7. Then again, I wouldnt be surprised if it goes 5 with either team winning. That said, I AM a rangers fan, so I say rangers in 6. Good luck though… this is going to be a better series than anyone thinks.

      • hockey412 - Apr 14, 2014 at 11:09 AM

Let me guess your prediction….Philly in 3.

  6. billiam55 - Apr 13, 2014 at 8:37 PM

    NHL PLAYOFFS > NBA PLAYOFFS

    thumbs up if you agree

    • spezzdispenser - Apr 13, 2014 at 9:57 PM

Only one Canadian team in the NBA playoffs too!

    • kc114 - Apr 14, 2014 at 3:19 AM

Nothing is more boring than a basketball game. It’s inconsequential score after inconsequential score after inconsequential score. Yet many people think there could be a defining moment (basket) in an NBA game before 160 points have been scored.

    • cofran2004 - Apr 14, 2014 at 9:11 AM

I thumbs downed you, but not because I disagree. Only because this is an obvious and shameless up-vote grab, and I will not be a part of that.

  7. penguins87and71 - Apr 13, 2014 at 8:49 PM

Besides the Penguins series, there are 4 other series I’m really looking forward to, Redwings/Bruins, Flyers/Rangers, Blackhawks/Blues, and Kings/Sharks.

  8. pitpenguinsrulez - Apr 13, 2014 at 9:29 PM

Not a fan of the Pens schedule simply because I’m stuck working on those nights.

    • barkar942 - Apr 14, 2014 at 12:30 AM

DVR. Just set it to record every game an extra 3 hours in case of a major overtime game. Then you can FF through all commercials and crap during intermissions.

      • cofran2004 - Apr 14, 2014 at 9:12 AM

Its REALLY hard to avoid hearing the score before you get home, what with social media, and local radio stations telling scores during commercials. It can obviously be done, but I feel his pain. So glad I don’t work nights anymore.

  9. fivetozeroingame7 - Apr 13, 2014 at 9:29 PM

Can someone help out my blind Aunt Hilda and tell her what time the Capitals game is? She doesn’t see it on the list.

    • govtminion - Apr 13, 2014 at 9:57 PM

      A Caps joke! How original!

      • fivetozeroingame7 - Apr 13, 2014 at 10:12 PM

What’s the joke? I am looking at the list of playoff games and I don’t see Washington on the list.

    • ironmd778 - Apr 13, 2014 at 9:58 PM

Ovie is already in Russia ready to spread his pathetic one-direction hockey on his World teammates. The man oozes “loser”.

      • beergold - Apr 14, 2014 at 7:53 AM

        Like Kessel in Laffland!

    • barkar942 - Apr 14, 2014 at 12:31 AM

Personally, I am happy that I won’t have to watch any Ranger-Capitals playoff hockey this year. That pairing has run its course the last few years.

  10. vstar1us - Apr 13, 2014 at 10:48 PM

I think the Wild could upset the Aves, but it is going to be a tough series!

    • mackattack29 - Apr 13, 2014 at 11:36 PM

      It’s Avs. And they won’t.

  11. blomfeld - Apr 13, 2014 at 11:20 PM

“NO … I’M NOT GOING TO DO THAT”

Suffice it to say friends that my initial reaction here was to jump all over the Sharks with my own personal predictions of a ‘massive & righteous’ LA Kings victory. However, I then quickly realized that there’s little reason to do that, because quite frankly, the need simply isn’t there. That which will be ‘will be’ as they say. And besides, the last time I checked word is that the good Lord has his money down yet again on us ‘glorious’ Kings of Los Angeles to go the distance ! Yes sir ! And check this out … word also has it that this could be a ‘clean’ sweep of the Sharkies this time around in the 1st round ! You just gotta love it man ! :)

ps: don’t ‘ever’ let a Shark take food from your table or see your car break down !

    GO KINGS GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

    • slysipops - Apr 14, 2014 at 12:29 AM

STAY THIRSTY MY FRIEND…………….. THE SLY

    • cofran2004 - Apr 14, 2014 at 9:14 AM

A sharknado video would have worked well, blomfeld. Just sayin…

  12. mackattack29 - Apr 13, 2014 at 11:37 PM

My two most bold predictions are blues will be swept. And bruins will be upset in 7.

    • slysipops - Apr 14, 2014 at 12:35 AM

all right mack, i like your kind of thinking ! GO HAWKS GO !

  13. greatmiamisportsmind - Apr 14, 2014 at 12:44 AM

I find it laughable people are saying this team and that team and this team over their is going to win in X number of games. It’s a new season, the previous 82 games now mean as much as the pre season did. Everyone is 0-0 and trying to win that 16th game. Upsets do and will happen. Any of the 16 teams have a chance to win it all (or at least make things interesting with a deep run).

    • cofran2004 - Apr 14, 2014 at 9:17 AM

See, you’re wrong because people love to make predictions. It’s fun. As a matter of fact, there’s an entire industry based on it called “gambling.” It’s really popular in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. It’s not laughable to make a prediction, and I find it laughable that you find it laughable,

    • hockey412 - Apr 14, 2014 at 11:12 AM

Thanks for the info. Yes, it’s 0-0-0, but you can’t possibly say the previous 82 games didn’t give a good look into what each team’s strengths and weaknesses are. That’s where the predictions come from.

      • greatmiamisportsmind - Apr 16, 2014 at 11:52 PM

Actually I can say the previous 82 games don’t give a good look into everything. Adjustments are made, and to be successful you need to adjust to the opposing team’s adjustments. Colorado found that out the hard way in 2003 when the Wild beat them, and that Colorado team was better than this Colorado team.

  14. 101starmymedic - Apr 14, 2014 at 9:13 AM

    Wings in 6
    Lightning in 6
    Columbus in 5
    Philly in 4
    Avalanche in 5
    Blues in 6
    Anaheim in 4
    San Jose in 6

    • cofran2004 - Apr 14, 2014 at 9:19 AM

Philly in 4, eh? Yeeeah… no.

    • jberd08 - Apr 14, 2014 at 12:45 PM

      Said no one ever

  15. cutelittleguy02 - Apr 15, 2014 at 6:32 PM

I really want the. Habs to win and to play Bruins in second round. Yes. Hope.
