All the Dallas Stars needed against the St. Louis Blues on Friday was a win. It didn’t matter the fashion, just two points and they’d be off to the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Stars clinched the final post-season position in the Western Conference with a 3-0 win over the struggling Blues. The Stars are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2008, as they wrap up the second Wild Card position.

It’s been a while.

Jamie Benn, the club’s captain, led the way offensively with a pair of assists, including the helper on the winner scored by Trevor Daley just before the six-minute mark of the second period, which Dallas completely took over.

At the other end, Kari Lehtonen wasn’t overly busy, but unbeatable nonetheless, turning aside all 22 shots he faced.

The Dallas victory eliminated the Phoenix Coyotes from playoff contention.

As a Coyotes fan, Dallas deserves this playoff birth, way more than we do. Congrats, and good luck in the postseason.

As for the coyotes, Maloney and co better be making some big changes. This team lacked so much in heart and grit. Here’s to next season.

The Yotes need some scoring wingers, the defense is very talented with OEL and Yandle, not to mention Smith is a legit #1. Hopefully, now with real ownership behind you guys this offseason they realize to invest to succeed. Wasn’t too long ago when you guys were inches from the finals, that was a driven team indeed.

Good lord. The epic Blues collapse just gets worse and worse.

Up to two weeks ago, the Blues would have been the team NOT to draw in round 1. The ‘Hawks may be fortunate in matching with a struggling Blues team in round 1

Like a dark horse riding into the playoff storm, the Stars will make some noise. Remember the 8 seed Kings a few years ago? Give em’ Hell Stars!
