Video: Penguins’ Sutter bends knee awkwardly in fall against Red Wings

Apr 10, 2014, 12:45 AM EDT

It looked like it could’ve been much worse.

Pittsburgh Penguins center Brandon Sutter fell awkwardly with Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brendan Smith while chasing the puck early in the third period. Smith fell on Sutter’s left leg, causing Sutter to throw his head back in obvious pain.

Sutter struggled to the bench and was seen in discomfort on the bench. However, he remained in the game, even playing a pair of shifts in overtime, as the Penguins prevailed for the shootout win.

I actually like Brandon Sutter, his been playing with his hair on fire since the Trade Rumors, the Penguins need to think twice before trading this guy. The Penguins want that the 3 center dominance again, but they might already have the guy in Brandon Sutter. If they got him a couple of good wingers for him to play with, I think he would start to put up better offensive numbers.

I agree Sutter is a solid responsible player and should remain part of the team.

Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don’t make.

I think Vancouver would have gone for Anaheim’s offer anyway. But yeah, Sutter should stay.
