PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Chris Pronger hasn’t played since 2011 due to concussion problems and his playing career is most assuredly done. That’s not keeping him away from hockey however and awaiting his eventual call from the Hall of Fame. (Canadian Press)

Editor’s Note: Pro Hockey Talk’s partner FanDuel is hosting a $1,000 Fantasy Hockey league for Wednesday’s NHL games. It’s just $10 to join and first prize is $200. Starts Wednesday at 7pm ETHere’s the FanDuel link.

Good news for Rangers fans: It sounds like Ryan McDonagh‘s shoulder injury isn’t serious. (Ranger Rants)

Now that the Maple Leafs’ losing streak is over, it’s time for them to try and start a winning streak so they can make the playoffs. (Sportsnet)

Since the Montreal Canadiens clinched a playoff spot last night, that means the Thomas Vanek trade is officially complete as far as the New York Islanders are concerned. At least on that end of the trade anyhow. (Islanders Point Blank)

L.A. Kings forward Dwight King is all banged up with what they’re calling “wear and tear.” What is he, a used car? (L.A. Kings Insider)

Dan Cleary‘s season is likely over because of an injection gone awry. (Red Wings)

Okay, how credible is Andrew Gross though? I’m not asking to undermine you, Yerdon. I legitimately don’t know.

Following that vein, Pronger should do the Flyers a favor and just retire. C’mon, it’s been three years already and he’s 39. CapGeek says he’s still got three years left on his contract. Do Flyers fans have to wait that long before he admits to being done?

Yeah, it sucks to have your career end this way (and many already have), but it’s time to face the harsh reality that your body just can’t properly recover from this, at least not enough to play professional hockey. Start mentoring kids, work your way into coaching.

Do them a favor and retire?!? If he does they’d have to take the cap hit instead of hiding him on the LTIR. I’m sure he isn’t just retiring as a favor to the Flyers.

      • jernster21 - Apr 2, 2014 at 12:22 PM

He hasn’t retired because the Flyers will be stuck with the cap penalty of a 35+ contract, whereas they can hide it by putting him on LTIR every season.

Oh. Well that explains it. My bad.

Hey, Yerdon. I haven’t seen an article lately on Tim Bozon. He’s out of the hospital, and, I believe, either on his way to or back in Europe.

Google Alert emailed me the following link about his medical bills. What his hockey team’s insurance doesn’t pay could leave him and his family owing more than $100,000. (OUCH!)

There was a fund established to help with the medical costs. I posted its name and address once before. Okay if I do it again? It’s:

    Tim Bozon Trust Fund
    c/o Western Hockey League
    Father David Bauer Arena
    2424 University Dr. NW
    Calgary AB / T2N 3Y9
    Canada

If you don’t believe in karma, this could make you buy in. After all the head shots this cheap shot artist committed, I’m glad he’s suffering. Piece of garbage.

Lots of thumbs but you all know it’s true. This guy purposely smashed guys heads into the glass, boards, anything he could. He’d routinely cross check guys in the head, he’s stomped on guys multiple times and head butted a guy once.

This guy deserves this. You can’t even argue otherwise.

Classless and dumb comment, you sir, are an a-hole.

      • shoobiedoobin - Apr 4, 2014 at 12:47 PM

If I did the same thing, you could wish it upon me. He deserves it. What’s class, not pointing it out? IDGAF then.
