There could be a showdown between 2012 first-round picks in Chicago tonight.

The Nashville Predators recalled forward Filip Forsberg from Milwaukee of the AHL today and he may wind up across the ice from Blackhawks forward Teuvo Teravainen. The 19-year-old Finnish prospect was recalled on Friday from Jokerit.

Forsberg has already had a taste of NHL life this season playing in 12 games for the Predators scoring one goal with four assists. Teravainen, meanwhile, has yet to make his NHL debut.

Forsberg was the 11th overall pick in the 2012 draft by the Washington Capitals. He was traded to Nashville last season in the Martin Erat deal. Teravainen went 18th overall to the Blackhawks.

Update (5:09 p.m. ET) — So much for that rookie showdown:

For some reason, and I know he’s still young, I don’t think Forsberg is gonna turn out to be the superstar everyone thinks he’s gonna be. Still wish the Caps had kept him over Erat, but I think Forsberg is gonna be a consistent 50-60 point guy, not a gamebreaker. Especially in Nashville’s system…

still an abysmal trade though. I know NHL prospects are no sure thing, but Martin Erat? And then to trade for a guy and bench him for most of the season-something weird going on between Oates and GMGM

    worst trade in recent memory

Ryan Whitney for Chris Kunitz, Luongo for Bertuzzi, Christian Ehrhoff for two bust prospects, Scott Gomez to Montreal…we still don’t know how this trade is gonna turn out for either team, Forsberg has barely even played so far. Definitely lopsided but I wouldn’t say worst trade quite yet.

I’d wait to see if Forsberg does anything first. Just to add insult to injury… Remember when the Caps traded Jagr to the Rangers for Anson Carter?

I’d be shocked if Teuvo plays. Hawks haven’t practiced since the Carolina game and weren’t going to have a morning skate. I hope he makes his debut Tuesday, since that’s the game I’m going to. But, I won’t be shocked if he doesn’t play this year.
