PHT Extra: St. Louis or Chicago — who ya got?

Mar 18, 2014, 5:26 PM EDT

Our latest video extravaganza, in which we discuss the Bruins, Blues, and Blackhawks:

PS — My thinking on the Blues basically mirrors Ryan Miller‘s.

“The last few years the playoffs have really put them through the battles and kind of tested them,” said Miller, per the News-Democrat. “You get a group of guys who are a little more resilient each time they go through something like that. You learn how to manage those emotions and show up and do the work the right way every night.”

PPS — No, I don’t actually think the Blackhawks will be too “bored” of winning the Stanley Cup to win another one. But I do think St. Louis will be the more motivated team heading into the postseason.

No one can rule out the Hawks, or the Sharks, or the Ducks, or the Avs, or even the Kings. I really hope the Blues do have the pieces in place to make a deep run (meaning the finals) this year. When the Blues last made the finals there was still at least one goalie playing without a mask, for pete’s sake.

If the Blues have a window with the new structure…the team they have now…and the avoiding the west coast till at least the conference finals…this is the year. MAYBE the next year or two if they can keep the team together which will be tough will all the salary cap speculation. Who knows.

I’m a huge Avs fan but I don’t think they are ready for a cup yet because I think they need a veteran defenseman. I think St. Louis should win it all. They have all the tools to win including a goaltender that has been great all his career

Miller? A step up from Fleury maybe. Montreal to win the East.

      • koyoteken - Mar 18, 2014 at 6:50 PM

Comments don’t come much dumber than that one….Montreal can’t even win it’s own division. The only way the Divers win any playoff series is if they get officiating like the 3rd period of that Ottawa game.

The blues have beaten chicago in the reg season so they are guaranteed to win the cup. Toews kane sharp hossa saad versteeg keith seabrook hjalmarsson oduya leddy all have NO playoff experience and have won nothing. Terrible team they have there in chicago. Blues have all the talent and playoff success that has eluded the hawks

Dude, as a Blues fan…are you even awake right now? Just curious…

      • imleftcoast - Mar 18, 2014 at 6:34 PM

Maybe try re-reading it not so literally dude.

      • imleftcoast - Mar 18, 2014 at 6:36 PM

dangle 88 should be a clue.

      • bcsteele - Mar 18, 2014 at 6:57 PM

Fair enough…so he’s a troll? Just trying to understand the need to defend a team with two recent cups and Jason plainly said its hard NOT to pick the Blackhawks but…

        Oh well though. LGB!

BC he was being sarcastic. It’s honestly ok to do once in awhile.

how were things on MARS? or don’t you get out of ma’s basement too often?

I’m going with the Blues, if for no other reason than to continue Halford’s being “The Cooler” in his story yesterday about Coach Qs 700th win.

Seriously, though, I don’t have a dog in this race, and I am just hoping for a great game no matter who wins.

first off i am a loooong time HAWKS fan, but the way things look right now i don’t give them too much chance to repeat! maybe if QUENVILLE gets the rag out of his butt and gets the team to look alive , erase the minor league type mistakes, grow some heart again and start playing like every game has meaning …they could win the CUP…. but if things stay like they are… they’ll have a long summer to make more tv commercials and so forth. right now i would go with BOSTON or the BLUES …..SADDLY !!!
