Video: Islanders’ Carkner fights Sabres’ Scott

Mar 15, 2014, 9:00 PM EDT

It didn’t take long for the main event to erupt between the Buffalo Sabres and New York Islanders on Saturday.

The Islanders’ Matt Carkner took exception to a hit along the bench from the Sabres’ John Scott just prior to the midway mark of the first period. The two came together, squared off and began throwing some heavy punches before eventually tying each other up along the boards.

Wasn’t a very good fight. Why post it as a separate article?

I love the fighting and all but seriously, how on earth is Matt Carkner playing in the NHL these days? the guy spent nearly a decade in the AHL riding a bus… and then gets called up a few years back when the “new NHL” and all it’s new rules form?

Scott is nothing but a GOON. After the cheap shot he put on Sundstrom late in the game, he deserves a cross check to the face and a nice fine to boot!!! Don’t question why Carkner is still around when you still have dirtbags like Scott on the ice.

you obviously have Carkner confused for a hockey player, take a look back at some of the crap he has pulled during his career then talk about Scott. Anybody that Scott hits someone is not going to like it he is 6’8 260lbs. Carkner is a waste of space.
