Comeau gets two games for boarding Smith

Mar 12, 2014, 3:13 PM EDT

Another day, another NHL suspension for boarding. This time, it’s Columbus’ Blake Comeau, for two games, after he hit Detroit’s Brendan Smith from behind Tuesday evening at Nationwide Arena.

You know the explanation from the league by now — Comeau used “significant force” despite having time to avoid, “or at the very least minimize,” the hit into the boards.

yet, the wings still would have lost

That may be so, but the wings would have one less injured player.

Hi, my name is Joey and I approve. This was an illegal body check.

Comeau really had him in his sights ! Hard to argue that suspension !

No dog in this fight but 2 games seems steep. What was the penalty call ?

He got 2 for boarding. Than after Smith got back to his skates he went after Comeau and crossed checked him. Smith got 2 for cross checking and Comeau got another 2 for embellishing.

As I posted this morning, looks like two games to me. Not a repeat offender, just a really stupid and dangerous play.

Agree with the 2 games, however why have other boarding calls not received suspensions? There is no consistency.
