OHL postpones Wednesday game following Trafford’s death

Mar 11, 2014, 9:11 PM EDT

The OHL announced that a Wednesday game between the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and Saginaw Spirit has been postponed after word surfaced regarding the death of Saginaw player Terry Trafford today. The 20-year-old had been missing since March 3 before his body was found on Tuesday.

Trafford’s Saginaw Spirit were set to host that contest on Wednesday, making the decision for postponement that much more understandable.

The OHL also notes that teams will observe a moment of silence before their next home games.

Got kicked off the team for smoking weed. Killed himself. At least that’s what I’ve read.

killed himself i’ve read. a damn shame that a 20 yr old kid thinks his life is as good as over because he got kicked off a team…apparently over pot of all things. no one apparently got to him in time. his girlfriend claims he suffered from bouts of depression. whether he was taking meds, was off them, if he was self medicating – who knows. a damn shame either way.
