PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Islanders coach Jack Capuano could be one of the coaches on the hot seat this season and the team’s inability to close games out that they’re leading in the third period might be part of it. As for how the team is handling it, Capuano said,”I’m sure they feel like they’re cursed right now.” (Newsday)

Isles are cursed with a coach who needs to be replaced. Cappy deserved another shot after taking them to the playoffs last year but now its time for a change. They’ll probably promote Dougie but they should consider bringing back Lavvy.

The curse is named Garth Snow.

Agreed. There’s a lot of problems in New York right now, but I can’t help but wonder where they’d be right now if they hadn’t made that stupid Vanek trade… either of them. Capuano has done pretty decent with what he has on his roster, but the issues there start with Snow and Wang.

But, as we all know, it’s the coach that gets blamed first- and fired first- for bad GMing (see: Capitals, Washington)
