From CSN Washington:

Judging from the Capitals’ morning skate on Monday, the Evgeny Kuznetsov era will begin on a fourth line with Jay Beagle and Tom Wilson tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In his first practice with Capitals teammates after signing his first NHL contract on Saturday, Kuznetsov practiced on a fourth line, with the possibility of moving up during tonight’s game.

Though some may argue a player with Kuznetsov’s skills would be better suited in the top six with the likes of Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom, Caps head coach Adam Oates feels otherwise:

Remember that tonight is only Kuznetsov’s first game in the NHL. The 21-year-old has a ton of potential, and he put up impressive numbers in the KHL. But as Jason Chimera puts it, “It’s not like we traded for Wayne Gretzky in his prime.”

Why was the would-be tying goal for Russia waived off late in the 3rd period vs USA?

      Kuznetsov

Maybe I missed something in your comment, doubles.

An apparent goal by Russia defenseman Fyodor Tyutin at 15:20 of the third period was waved off because the net had come off its moorings well before the puck went into it.

I’m kinda excited for the kid and you all know who I root for.

Smart choice starting him on the 4th. You don’t need his first nhl shifts being against the Crosby or malkin lines

Truth is, I’d like to see that – starting against Crosby / Malkin.

I watched this guy’s presser (I called him a kid earlier; he’s 21 [two years older than Olli Maatta], and he’s married [wife coming over in about a month]). While his command of the English language is a bit limited, I heard enough to know that he knows he’s a good hockey player. No boasting, nothing like that. It’s going to be interesting watching him develop in the NHL.

That’s all great but my point stands. Also, not sure what point was referencing matta and his age

I called Kuznetsov a kid earlier; he’s older than Maatta. I shouldn’t have called him a kid.

excited for tonight and tomorrow’s game. These will either propel the Caps further into the playoff race or be the final nail in the coffin.

Really wish the Caps would stfu in interviews. No need for Brouwer and Chimera commenting negatively about Kuznetsov. Good job adding to media drama before he even plays his first game.

locker room has to have improved getting erat and neuvirth out of there but then you hear veterans like chimera and brouwer still being grumpy about stuff and you just gotta wonder what the mood really is like in the locker room in general. doesnt really seem like a good time to be pessimistic when trying to get better and get in the playoffs. you would think the players would be happy for the opportunity to get better as a team.
