Bolts’ Lindback collides knee-to-knee with Sabres’ Stewart

Mar 6, 2014, 10:21 PM EDT

A tough week for Buffalo Sabres forward Chris Stewart got a little rougher on Thursday, as he appeared to suffer a right leg injury during a collision with Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Anders Lindback.

This comes about six days after being traded from a contender to the St. Louis Blues to Buffalo, although the upside – theoretically – would be a lot of playing time and a go-to scoring role. Unless he’s injured, of course.

It may have been a knee-to-knee hit between Stewart and the towering netminder. Video will be added if it becomes available, but for now, here’s a GIF of the collision via MSG by way of The Score:

The Buffalo News’ Mike Harrington provided some running commentary:

The Sabres already lost Zemgus Girgensons to a lower-body injury tonight.

Player runs goalie = all hell breaks loose

Goalie runs player = no big deal

    Makes perfect sense.
