Report: Caps could be looking at Luongo

Mar 4, 2014, 11:50 AM EDT

A couple of tweets to stoke some Roberto Luongo trade speculation:

Of course, based on the numbers, the Caps have actually received pretty good goaltending this season from Braden Holtby, Philipp Grubauer, and Michal Neuvirth. Washington’s team save percentage is .914, tied with San Jose for 12th in the NHL.

As for another potential destination, I’ll throw in a couple of tweets of my own:

But we all know the problems with Luongo’s contract, so far as trading him is concerned. (He knows it, too.) Those issues remain, though with a rising salary cap maybe they’re not as pronounced as they were a year ago.

Imagine a trade where Luongo goes to Florida and Thomas ends up in Vancouver????

I could see the riots occurring again if that were to happen.

Looks like it’s Luongo time for the Capitals

    Narcissistic me couldn’t resist…. ;-)

I would submit that what ‘inexplicably’ took place yesterday at BC Place (ie: the benching of Luongo) will now become self-explanatory with developments over the coming 36 hours … even for the many ‘anti-social’ sheep who frequent this website!

    Blomfeld knows hockey

I tell ya Joey … you, me and Valoisvipers working ‘together’ could be the greatest pool of hockey knowledge ever assembled ! Yes Sir ! In fact I could see us even finding solutions for some of the world’s biggest problems like global warming or the economy ! :)

GO JOEY AND HIS EXCELLENT FRIENDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Just trade him anywhere at this point. Tired of reading about all the speculation.

Nonetheless, the bottom line remains that things are now ‘going to happen’ here in Vancouver and those things do ‘not’ involve Ryan Kesler ! On the contrary, this Kesler business is nothing more than a ‘diversion’ which has been cleverly concocted in-order to fool the sheep and mask what’s ‘really’ about to go down. In fact, I would submit that what ‘inexplicably’ took place yesterday at BC Place (ie: the benching of Luongo) will now become self-explanatory with developments over the coming 36 hours … even for the many ‘anti-social’ sheep who frequent this website !

Good call Blom, just got the alert on my phone!

WHY. We have three capable NHL goalies and one who’s proven to be a clutch playoff performer in Holtby. We don’t need Lou or his contract.

    • bethgoesglobal - Mar 5, 2014 at 1:16 AM

Why is it that everyone seems to forget that Neuvy had a pretty good playoff run the year before. if I remember correctly he was in goal as the Caps beat the Rangers in the first round. This is not to say that I don’t think that Holtby isn’t a good goaltender, he absolutely is, but how much better than Neuvy is he really? They’ve had the same amount of playoff experience.
      I’m just saying.

Arrrrggggghhh!!!! The Caps need a top 4 defenseman. It has been this way for at least 5+ years.

  8. hockeyflow33 - Mar 4, 2014 at 1:02 PM

Why would any of those team take on Luongo? They aren’t missing goaltending en route to the Cup. Washington needs defensemen and Florida needs everything. Neither one needs an aging, (but very good), goalie messing up their cap number for the next eight years.

Ohhh crap as of right now. Luongo is going to Florida…Hope Tim is not coming back the other way as I mentioned earlier.

    We’ll find out.
