PHT Extra: Where will Kesler end up?

Mar 4, 2014, 3:55 PM EDT

FYI, at least one Vancouver reporter has been led to believe it’s down to Philadelphia or Pittsburgh.

Update: Have to think the Andrew MacDonald trade lessens the chances of Alex Edler going to Philly. The Canucks aren’t all that enthusiastic about moving the d-man anyway, but we thought it was worth mentioning. Still could happen. Never know.

Don’t see either team as a perfect fit. Don’t see him as a fit at all in Philly. Gotta think they are just driving up the price. Hopefully Shero is smart enough to realize that and stay strong with his offer.

Agree Edler is part of this deal. I still think Vancouver will do a deal with either Toronto or Detroit.

Why would Kesler want to go anywhere? Especially come to Pittsburgh? Why would he want to be a third line center?

    • ntvd7 - Mar 4, 2014 at 4:32 PM

      WINNING

      First line – Losing
      Third line – Winning

      That’s an easy choice

in Philly, an organization that has loved him from day, he would be the #2 center and a prominent guy on the team but not the guy, seems like it would be a decent fit

CHICAGO CHICAGO CHICAGO. how many times do people have to say it, PHT guys. they are still in the mix 100% and have fielded an offer. philly is driving prices up and keeler won’t want to be 3C. he fits perfectly at 2C with kane and Saad.

    • gret9 - Mar 4, 2014 at 4:24 PM

As much as I would love to have Kesler in Chicago, I’m not sure the price is worth it. I would guess Vancouver would want Shaw or Kruger, Teravainen and a couple of high picks….imho that’s a lot to give up, even for Kesler.

      Can’t see Stan doing that.

      • hawksin5 - Mar 4, 2014 at 5:24 PM

        apparently it’s a 1st, bicker, and ledgy.

      • hawksin5 - Mar 4, 2014 at 5:25 PM

did you see what they just gave up luongo for? we could probably give VAN a massage table and a bus and get keeler at that rate.

      • comeonnowguys - Mar 4, 2014 at 5:39 PM

I’d agree, except for Philly and Pittsburgh. One of those two Keystone Cops are going to lose their mind and throw a lot for him.

      • elrock7 - Mar 4, 2014 at 8:15 PM

hawksin5, bicker?, ledgy?, keeler?, what are you a close friend to these guys?

    • comeonnowguys - Mar 4, 2014 at 5:34 PM

In my poor, deluded mind, those picks Chicago got for Pirri are going to be part of a larger package for Kesler.

      I really wish I wasn’t deluded.

  5. penguins87and71 - Mar 4, 2014 at 4:21 PM

I heard Vancouver doesn’t want to trade Kesler to a Western Conference team.

    • elrock7 - Mar 4, 2014 at 7:41 PM

to Leafs for Kadri, Jake Gardiner and a pick. Nucks tried last year to get Kadri

      • elrock7 - Mar 4, 2014 at 8:17 PM

hope Leafs don’t make that deal, I would rather try for local boy Cammilieri, cheaper and a better fit.

  6. pdmjr - Mar 4, 2014 at 4:28 PM

Saad and 2 draft picks for Kesler it’s coming now

    • hawksin5 - Mar 4, 2014 at 5:26 PM

ok u saw the luongo coming, where did u see this? is this true?

  7. pdmjr - Mar 4, 2014 at 4:40 PM

Luongo traded to Panthers very soon

  8. xbrightxredxbloodx - Mar 4, 2014 at 5:05 PM

Beagle and Neuvirth (plus 4th or 5th round pick, maybe) for Kesler. Improvement for the Caps at center and in goal.

    • flyerspsu - Mar 4, 2014 at 5:09 PM

      not even close to enough

      • xbrightxredxbloodx - Mar 4, 2014 at 5:17 PM

Sub Neuvy for Green, and make a play for another D from elsewhere (Erhoff?). That’s my final offer.

  9. hockeyflow33 - Mar 4, 2014 at 5:22 PM

I’d love to see him in Boston. Even though it isn’t in the works I’d make a Krecji for Kesler swap, the money works out.

  10. jpat2424 - Mar 4, 2014 at 5:49 PM

Hoping philly. Just one more guy to hate on that team.

  11. slaugin - Mar 4, 2014 at 8:18 PM

    Krejci for Kesler is blasphemy…
