The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms with Anton Khudobin on a two-year contract worth $2 million next season and $2.5 million the one after that.

“We are pleased to be able to keep Anton with the Hurricanes,” general manager Jim Rutherford said in a release. “He has played well this season and signing him helps solidify our team’s goaltending situation.”

Khudobin is 13-8-0 with a .927 save percentage in 22 games for the ‘Canes this season. With the 27-year-old now under contract, and with Carolina apparently committed to keeping him, attention will now turn to the other two goalies on the roster, Cam Ward and Justin Peters.

Via CapGeek, here’s what the situation looks like:

It’s possible one of Ward or Peters is traded before tomorrow’s deadline. Though the way Ward has played this season (.891 save percentage), we suppose we can’t count out the possibility of a buyout this summer.
