Video: Bruins’ Soderberg behind-the-back pass sets up Kelly’s goal

Feb 26, 2014, 8:17 PM EDT

The Boston Bruins looked a little rusty for a chunk of the first period against the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday, but Carl Soderberg appeared more-than-alert with this beauty of a pass to set up Chris Kelly‘s fifth goal of the season:

The two teams entered the first intermission tied 1-1.

Nice pass. Can’t believe Loui Eriksson is on the third line in Boston there with Soderberg and Kelly. That’s more of a testament to Boston’s great depth than it is to Eriksson’s skill level. He, Soderberg and Kelly have to combine to be one of the top-two best third lines in the league.

Eriksson pretty much got himself played out of the top 6 while he was injured due to the appearance of Reilly Smith for the Bruins. It looks like he’s finally starting to find his game though. I’m excited for what this team can do if Eriksson is playing like Loui Eriksson should be.

Nice play and all…. but I think the defense (or lack thereof) from Buffalo illustrates why they are in last place in the East.
