The good news is that Tyler Myers broke his seven-game scoring slump with an assist on Monday. The bad news is that he suffered a lower-body injury and won’t return against the Edmonton Oilers.

The Buffalo News’ John Vogl believes that Myers “dinged” his right hip/leg area midway through the second period of tonight’s game. There’s no word on the severity of his injury.

Myers just turned 24 on Feb. 1. The Sabres are hoping that the big blueliner plays aggressively rather than lingering on his mistakes, but the simplest numbers indicate that he’s had some gaffes to choose from.

Myers generated a -11 rating during that seven-game scoring slump, including a -4 mark against Colorado on his birthday.

Gotta say, not a Sabres fan but Tyler Myers might be the most disappointing player in all of hockey the past few years. With his size and skill combined he could’ve been the next Zdeno Chara, I mean his potential is just astronomical. But I don’t think he has the hockey-IQ or effort of Chara, and that makes me wonder if he’ll ever reach his full potential.

You clearly have not watched enough of Tyler Myers this year. He showed his potential winning the Calder trophy. Then Ruff/Rolston wanted him to play out-of-role…now that Nolan is coaching him and letting him play his own style of hockey, he has looked like a stud this year…especially when he started getting more physical.

He is still extremely young and he’s still growing and learning…he can still be the next Chara, or better…give him time. Chara was nothing special early-on either.

More good news for us Sabres fans. Ya know though, I agree that Myers has been sort of a bust anyways. What a throw away season this has been. Ugh.
