Video: Oilers’ Hendricks suffers head injury in fight, won’t return

Jan 29, 2014, 11:37 PM EDT

Edmonton forward Matt Hendricks left tonight’s game against San Jose following a first-period tilt with Mike Brown and has been ruled out with a head injury, the Oilers announced.

Here’s the fight in question:

Hendricks left the ice immediately following the scrap, and didn’t return. The 32-year-old, acquired from Nashville two weeks ago, does have a history with concussions, missing four games with one during the 2009-10 campaign after a scrap with Brad Staubitz.

It looks like he was out for a split second. Causing him to just fall back. Hope everything is ok and has a fast recovery!

I’m actually surprised he hasn’t left an anti fighting rant yet. This story has been up for at least 20 minutes!

Can I just say WOW to Scrivens. 59 shots and a shutout. Can’t even be mad at the loss. Disappointed in Niemi lately but other then that.. Wow..

I love Matt Hendricks from his time as a capital, it’s a real shame to see such a hard working guy get hurt. There’s alot more to him than fighting, plus he’s a big presence in the community
