Video: Ovechkin juggles puck then scores top corner

Jan 25, 2014, 9:02 PM EDT

The Washington Capitals have clearly missed Alex Ovechkin. And Ovechkin, well, he clearly missed scoring goals.

After missing the previous two games with a groin injury, Ovechkin, the Capitals star, returned to the lineup against the struggling Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. And, as he often does, Ovechkin scored another beautiful goal – his 36th of the season – to get his team on the board.

Ovechkin juggled a bouncing puck with his stick at the side of the net, then went top corner from a difficult angle in close on Carey Price. The Capitals went on to build a 4-0 lead after the second period, which resulted in Price getting the hook from the net.

Nice goal. Even if he doesn’t use the impressive hand-eye coordination there it’s probably not a good thing to leave a 50 goal scorer alone with a clear lane to the net and no one even looking his way. Did the Habs have enough skaters on the ice? I only counted 4 and it’s not listed as PP goal.

The habs are a total mess today. I’m pretty sure they had a full line out there.

Seems to be a lot of games today with only 1 team showing up.

If you pause the video at :35 I only count 4 Habs. AO is by himself to the right of the screen.

just watched it in GC. There was :02 left on PP. But you’re right, it is not listed as PP.

The PP had just ended so not technically a PP goal. Hence why Ovie was open before anyone could get to him.

Okay, first let me preface this whole thing by delcaring that i indeed hate ovi.

HOWEVER, he is an immensely talented goal scorer.

The “juggling” (if you can call batting it once or twice juggling), any player north of C leage can do.

And “top corner?” He elevated it, it hit price and banked in…he’s scored MUCH much better goals in his sleep. This is way overhyped.

      Feel better now?

If anyone north of the C League can “juggle a puck” thats in mid air and rotating in a game, how come no matter how many hockey games any of us have watched, we never see that done well enough to score?

Looks like LuLu or Smith will be tending Canada’s goal…
