Chicago Blackhawks winger Kris Versteeg expects to play on Sunday despite Friday’s collision with Bryan Bickell, which he equated to being hit by a bus. CSNChicago.com has more on the situation, particularly why Versteeg went through concussion protocol and ended his Friday early:
“That’s pretty much it with protocol nowadays,” Versteeg said. “I got winded, and it was just precaution. Obviously it’s a game that meant a lot. But it’s midseason, and in the grand scheme of things you want to be more careful.”
Versteeg, 27, has 17 points in 31 games since being traded to Chicago this season. Overall, he has 24 points in 49 contests in 2013-14.
