Video: Hutton robs Raffl with save of the year candidate

Jan 16, 2014, 8:35 PM EDT

The headline is pretty self-explanatory, so just sit back and watch Carter Hutton commit highway robbery on Michael Raffl in tonight’s Flyers-Preds game at Wells Fargo:

It’s possible Hutton has been motivated by the midweek acquisition of Devan Dubnyk, as he’s been stellar tonight for Nashville. The former Chicago farmhand also had a big save on Chris VandeVelde early in the contest.

The goalie play was great, but that defensemen’s stick-check is what saved the goal.

I still can’t believe he got back for that save. I thought it was a sure it was a goal. Unlucky bounce before the shot. That was a sick save. Hutton played a great game

Amazing save that stunk watching but Legwand deserves a TON of credit. If he doesn’t take that penalty and disrupt Raffl the puck goes nowhere near Huttons glove. It couldn’t be more wide-open but Legwand made the puck float left… an inch to the right and it’s an easy goal.

Hutton had about 5 or 6 stops that could’ve easily been goals. Why do backups always put up unbelievable performances against the Flyers?
