The Winnipeg Jets have placed forward Evander Kane on injured reserve with a hand laceration, retroactive to Jan. 7.

Kane, 22, has missed the last two games with what the Jets are calling a “deep hand cut.” It’s unclear exactly how he suffered the injury, though he did get in a scrap with Bolts defenseman Eric Brewer in a 4-2 loss on the 7th.

The former fourth overall pick has 14 goals and 25 points through 38 games this season. With Kane out, the Jets have recalled forward Carl Klingberg from AHL St. John’s. Klingberg has 11 goals in 33 games for the IceCaps this season.

Craig Anderson and Claude Giroux just accepted Evander Kane into their no-sharp-objects club. Giroux doesn’t use the word ‘club’ though.

Zach Redmond already has his number for a support group speed dial. (Skates included though)

Kane shouldn’t have even been in the game when this happened with 19 sec left. This is a continuation of when Kane jumped Brewer from behind a few min earlier. Definitely the 5th right to the helmet did it. Ouch!

Sorry, but this has bothered me since that game.

Still haven’t heard any explanation as to why Kane (and Brewer) only got a 2min roughing call for getting Brewer from behind when Brewer was already fighting with another Jet player in front of Tampa’s crease??

How does NO ONE get 5min when 3 pairs of gloves are dropped and 3 guys are throwing? What is rule (3rd man) 46.16 for if it is subjective?

Yeah, well, great point you make. Heavy sigh.

        1. Brewer isn’t a fighter

        2. My comments were concerning what preceded this little clip. I’m not upset that they fought one on one. Or that Brewer got slugged. It was the earlier play of Kane blind siding a player already fighting.

        3. I’m sure you wouldn’t be upset if another Bolt sucker punches Kane while he is pummeling Brewer in this clip, right? Then no one involved even gets 5 min is my point.

        4. If the officials followed the rules, Kane wouldn’t have a busted paw today.

        Have a great night.
