Ducks ride Hiller’s great save to continue home dominance

Jan 8, 2014, 1:32 AM EDT

The Anaheim Ducks are on a truly special start to the 2013-14 season at home, as they improved to 18-0-2 at the Honda Center with a 5-2 win against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday.

Sometimes special runs require special moments. In tonight’s case, people were left raving about Jonas Hiller‘s special save:

Ryan Getzlaf called Hiller “the difference” in that contest. Even the Swiss-born netminder raved about it.

“You don’t make those saves every night,” Hiller said. “It got the crowd into it.”

When you win 5-2, it’s not just about a single save. The Ducks also dominated on the man advantage, going 3-for-3 on the power play while shutting down Boston’s three chances.

“We’re playing some unbelievable hockey right now and getting the bounces at the right time,” Mathieu Perreault said.

It’s good news that Perreault seemed to be in good spirits after the game, as Bruins forward Gregory Campbell delivered this questionable hit during the contest:

Then again, it’s easier to shake off those lows and embrace the highs when you’re doing outstanding, sometimes history-making things. The Ducks were kind enough to summarize everything in a convenient infographic:
