Snub this: Martin St. Louis scores twice in Lightning win

Jan 7, 2014, 11:28 PM EDT

After learning that Martin St. Louis was left off the Canadian Olympic team, Lightning coach Jon Cooper said that the snub would “motivate the snot” out of Tampa Bay’s captain. The Winnipeg Jets saw what that looks like on Tuesday.

(Um … not literally, that is.)

The 38-year-old scored the game-winning goal and the empty-netter in the third period, pushing his goals total to 19 (along with 40 points in 43 games) this season.

One might describe that as St. Louis converting that negative energy (or snot?) into positive production, but his reliable scoring largely inspired the surprise about his omission in the first place. Whether you call it business as usual or sticking it to the man – including his own GM Steve Yzerman – the under-sized winger helped the Bolts overcome a 33-14 shot disparity to beat Winnipeg 4-2.

Here’s video of the game-winner:
