Crosby fights through foot issue on Tuesday

Jan 7, 2014, 11:42 PM EDT

Team Canada already has some injury worries on its collective mind, but what if Sidney Crosby is hurt, too? That situation is murky on Tuesday, as the Pittsburgh Penguins star is playing through what might be a foot injury against the Vancouver Canucks.

The moment started with Crosby taking an Evgeni Malkin shot off his foot, but controversy cropped up when Ryan Kesler might or might not have been up to no good. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Seth Rorabaugh posted grainy video of the incident in question, for your own judgment:

The good news is that the 26-year-old star continued to play. The bad news is that onlookers including the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review’s Josh Yohe believe that he didn’t look quite right.

Uh oh. Does this mean any chippy moment between players from opposing nations will come with a conspiracy theory? Buckle up.

    No need for it…

  3. hazlydose - Jan 8, 2014 at 12:10 AM

I’m pretty sure it was the shot and not Keslar dropping his stick blade on his skate. Sid doesn’t even react to the contact with Keslar’s stick.

LMAO! Awwww! Little baby won’t be going to Sochi…. :-) Don’t throw stones when you live in a glass house.

Obsessed with Giroux much? Didn’t know you had a fetish for gingers. BTW your glass house reference does not relate in this situation. Makes you look like a clod who’s trying to sound cerebral.

You’re the one with chronic vaginitis and a Claude Giroux obsession.

Hey broadstreet, remember when Giroux got a stick to his helmet and threw his head back and threw himself to the ice earlier tonight?

    • bencia823 - Jan 8, 2014 at 3:22 AM

nobody cares about Giroux enough to make up lies about him being a wimp so they feel better about the fact that he isnt on their team

    • broadstreetbeatdown - Jan 8, 2014 at 6:34 PM

He was channeling his inner Letang.

How freaking good is Sidney??? Played his worst two periods of the year then big faceoff win for a goal… GREAT kick to his stick for regulation equalizer. Then shootout goal to win it. Best. In. The. World.

    • c9castine - Jan 8, 2014 at 1:12 AM

gotta be the best to play that “bad” but still end up filling the net to win the game like he did. and I’m not being sarcastic he did play a bad game .

  7. navyeoddavee9 - Jan 8, 2014 at 1:04 AM

Sore toe or not, Crosby ties it, Pens win shootout. I’m thinking he’s fine, Broadstreet!

  8. joey4id - Jan 8, 2014 at 1:19 AM

OMG! I was so hoping the Nucks would win in OT.

Bylsma said after the Pens 4th goal “Just like we drew it on the white board boys. Jussi bounces the puck of the d man. Kunitz bats the puck out of mid air to Crosby, who kicks the puck to his stick and scores.” :-)

      • broadstreetbeatdown - Jan 8, 2014 at 6:44 PM

Funny how you guys are trying to smack talk a team thats won 24 cups. The epitome of ignorance.

you should thank him for the success of hockey right now

      • broadstreetbeatdown - Jan 8, 2014 at 6:42 PM

Actually, love him or hate him, you should thank Gary Bettman for that. If you were referring to the Fanboy Legion, that you so clearly are a ranking member of, then yes, thank Sidney Crosby.
