It feels like we wrote this exact same post a couple of weeks ago, but whatever — as Roberto Luongo deals with an injury and speculation flies about his health status for the upcoming Olympics, the Vancouver Canucks have recalled goalie Joacim Eriksson from the AHL’s Utica Comets.

For the time being, Eriksson will back up Luongo’s back-up, Eddie Lack.

What’s the latest on Luongo’s ankle injury? Here’s TSN’s James Duthie:

So that sounds like good news, relatively speaking.

Winless in their last four, the Canucks will host the Penguins Tuesday and the Blues Friday before heading back to SoCal for a couple of games versus the Kings and Ducks, both of whom beat Vancouver this past weekend.

If you don’t follow Luongo on twitter you’re missing out, his last tweet had me cracking up for a good minute. Gotta give props to a guy that can always get a laugh at his own expense.

Perhaps an MRI of his ‘ego’ would have been a better idea eh ? :) … the bottom line is that Luongo (ie: Mister Luongo or ‘aka’ Gina) is likely ‘angling’ to get out of having to go to the Caucuses … can’t say that I really blame him (them) either …

    too right…

to be concussed in the caucasus can cause continual cranial carnage carrying concern for constant cringing and cowering in corners from cannonading careless creeps called…

Luongo has to be in the news, what every minute?

Lol Luongo haters always turn up. He’s a charismatic guy, that’s why he’s always in the news. He’s a good goalie, his stats back that up. The “breakdowns” that people talk about were team breakdowns. He just takes the brunt of the heat.
