News and notes from around the blue paint…

Bob’s back

After missing extensive time to a groin injury, Sergei Bobrovsky will make his first start since Dec. 3 tonight in New York, against the Rangers.

Prior to getting hurt, Bobrovsky had relatively mediocre numbers — 10-11-2 with a 2.72 GAA and .909 save percentage — but the Jackets will look for him to solidify the goaltending position after Curtis McElhinney allowed far too many goals in recent games. In their last three losses, the Blue Jackets were scored on 16 times.

The Rangers will counter with Henrik Lundqvist tonight after Cam Talbot beat the Leafs 7-1 on Saturday.

Elsewhere…

Stars at Islanders: Kari Lehtonen vs. Evgeni Nabokov

Panthers at Canadiens: Carey Price in goal for Montreal, Tim Thomas likely for Florida.

Flames at Avs: Karri Ramo vs. Jean-Sebastien Giguere.

I never thought I’d be worried about having Henrik starting in goal over someone else… at least not until 2020 or so…

The key to a NY Rangers win is, which Lundqvist shows up tonight? No team in the NHL can carry a goaltender consistently that gives up 2-0 or more leads in a game. A world class goaltender suppose to be dominant Their past accomplishments can’t carry them. Maybe, Henrik saw how committed Crosby is as a world class professions hockey player should be day in, day out.

I know hindsight is everything, but they just play better with talbot this year, and talnot himself is easily outplaying hank. Who would have thought it needs at least 4 goals to win with lundqvist in net
Also that call on kreider was ridiculous. Clean side to side hit. tyutin just spun awkwardly and fell headfirst into the boards. Bad call
