Video: Zack Kassian takes skate to face

Jan 5, 2014, 11:39 PM EDT

Zack Kassian encountered a scary moment in the Vancouver Canucks’ 4-3 OT loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday, as Tom Sestito accidentally caught him in the face with his skate during this hit:

Not much has been updated about Kassian’s condition, although’s Curtis Zupke does report that he’s listed as day-to-day, according to John Tortorella. (Torts said the same about Roberto Luongo.)

All things considered, day-to-day doesn’t sound too bad considering how frightening that moment was.

As far as the game itself, the Canucks nearly snagged a win despite the Ducks’ 49-20 shot advantage, but Corey Perry‘s OT-winner gave Anaheim the W.

Aren’t we all “day to day”

p.s….Kassian didn’t look like the skate clipped him but rather mashed him right in the nose

Not nearly as bad as it could have been…that said, I bet it hurt like hell.
