Kings ‘got smoked’ by Blues for fifth straight loss

The L.A. Kings and St. Louis Blues have played some close, fiercely competitive games against each other in recent memory, including back to their playoff series last spring.

There was nothing of the sort Thursday, as the Blues crushed the Kings 5-0, with goalie Brian Elliott making 30 saves for the shutout.

The Kings, one point ahead of the Vancouver Canucks for the third spot in the Pacific Division, have lost five consecutive games, including Thursday’s defeat.

“When our team is playing with confidence–throughout the whole lineup –we’re an amazing team. We’ve got to remember that,” said Kings defenseman Drew Doughty, as per Lisa Dillman of the L.A. Times.

Doughty continued: “We’re playing like we’re scared out there. We’re scared to try things. We’re scared to do the right things … and that’s why we’re losing and that’s why we got smoked tonight.”

This loss has more to do with the Kings chronically anemic offense than anything else . . . great offensive surge by the crippled Blues tonight! Let’s Go Ducks!!

Not a bad offensive effort, considering our top 2 goal scorers were out again. Oshie showed why he deserved that Olympic roster spot.

    Where is blomfield?

    • jhaegs - Jan 3, 2014 at 12:31 AM

I wonder if he considers this an “honorable loss”. He did, after all, call the Blues a bunch of “primates”. It’s not actually an insult, but he intended it to be one.

There’s no way he will be able to put a positive spin on this one. Goalie got the hook, “best” defense allowed 5 goals (even one to Jackman), and offense got shut out. Dominated…

“Primates” in that they absolutely animalized the helpless Kings tonight. This was never even a contest. The Kings just got wiped the f**k out.

      • jhaegs - Jan 3, 2014 at 12:53 AM

Blomfeld shows up and all of a sudden, the comments praising the Blues have one dislike. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…

      • kingsfan93 - Jan 3, 2014 at 3:26 AM

Jhaegs, you don’t know what your talking about. Kings were Dominated? Really? Try actually watching the WHOLE game for once. WOW! St. Louis Blues scored 5 goals against the Kings. But it wasn’t like the Kings didn’t have continuous chances in the first half of the game. So the Blues beat the Kings for their third time in last 18 games (including playoffs).

I not gonna say the Kings got smoked by the Blues, but it was bad enough.

Every team, too, goes through a season with a game or so they get lit-up,….that includes the St. Louis Blues. Back in October Blues lost to the Sharks 6-2. That was bad, too!

        @Kingsfan93

        Are you Chris Crocker?

How dare anyone out there make fun of The Kings after all they’ve been through.!

They lost a game, they went through a losing streak. They had issues.

Their owner turned out to be a user, a cheater, and now they’re going through a losing streak. All you people care about is….. readers and making money off of them.

THEY’RE HUMAN! (ah! ooh!) What you don’t realize is that The Kings are making you all this money and all you do is write a bunch of crap about them.

They haven’t performed good in days. Their captain is called “Dusty” for a reason because all you people want is DUST! DUST, MORE: DUST!.

LEAVE THEM ALONE! You are lucky they even performed for you BASTARDS!
        LEAVE THE KINGS ALONE!…..Please.

Perez Hilton talked about professionalism and said if The Kings were professional they would’ve pulled it off no matter what.

Speaking of professionalism, when is it professional to publicly bash someone who is going through a hard time.

Leave The Kings Alone Please…. !
Leave The LA Kings alone!…right now!….I mean it.!

Anyone that has a problem with them you deal with me, because they’re not well right now.

        LEAVE THEM ALONE!

If I hadn’t watched the WHOLE game, that would’ve been $60 I wasted on my ticket. Kings had spurts of pressure mostly on the PP, but couldn’t capitalize on almost 2min of 5 on 3. Your goalie got the hook, 5 goals against, shutout, 0-6 on PP… you did outshoot us I guess, so it wasn’t a total domination… 👍

Stop posting this BS and then immediately giving your own comment a thumbs up. Do the Kings have any playmakers? Anyone that is exciting to watch? I haven’t seen any, and the scoreboard lately shows it.

      • areaman714 - Jan 3, 2014 at 2:56 AM

Deep down, Kings fans know this . . . will they admit it to themselves? No. Denial gets them through life in LA County.
