‘Nothing broken’ for Eaves following Lupul crosscheck

Jan 1, 2014, 6:00 PM EDT

The 2014 Winter Classic included a controversial moment, as Joffrey Lupul knocked Patrick Eaves out of the game with a questionable crosscheck that earned him a two-minute minor. The league will decide if there will be supplemental discipline, but the good news is that Detroit Red Wings GM Ken Holland said that nothing is “broken” for Eaves, the Detroit Free Press’ Helene St. James reports.

That doesn’t necessarily mean Eaves, 29, isn’t injured. The team will evaluate him for a possible concussion over the next few days, according to Holland.

Here’s video of that hit:

Lupul, 30, was suspended two games back in March, so he would be considered a repeat offender. That won’t help his cause, yet good injury news for Eaves could help him avoid a suspension. We’ll see, especially since there are still concussion concerns.

Stupid cheap shot… but admittedly worse that in looked at ‘game speed’.

Glad Eaves is OK… but Lupul should enjoy a few games off… and with Shanahan in the stands.

The headshot Lupul took before that was worse. So was the high stick that cut Phaneuf and wasn’t called. Geez

Thank you for being realistic. (Seriously).

Lupul and Phaneuf both deserve whatever comes to them, It is called Karma, The leafs continue to show how stupid they are as an organization. Giving Phaneuf 7yrs and that money. He is not an elite D-Man never will be. He is a punk just like Lupul.

quit your moaning…leafs stole two points when they deserved none…they were out-played and out-classed…it was men against boys yet again

so expert, where where does the phantom closed hand on puck mystery call fit in…as for phaneuf, anything in that ugly mug could only be called an improvement

think of the plastic surgeon fees he saved

    geez

Your bitterness over losing the game could not show any more.

    bitter…you’re damned right i’m bitter…

not at the maple leafs’ traveling clown revue, a source of great hilarity for years past and many to come, but at mike babcock for pandering to the american college hockey hype machine by playing jimmy howard…sieve incarnate…

we surrendered a point so howard could participate in the american team selection in his own back yard in front of those several he might call fans…bull crap…i’m sick and tired of being out-played in only one position, then losing…

    and it’s always howard…?

when he was named starter, i prayed we wouldn’t get into a shootout…i turned it off at the end of overtime…the result was predetermined

    start the monster, we win
