Jonathan Quick‘s return to the NHL will take a quick departure through the American League.

The Kings have announced that Quick will head to AHL Manchester on a conditioning stint as part of his recovery from a groin strain, according to LA Kings Insider. Quick, who hasn’t played since getting hurt in Buffalo on Nov. 12, is currently with traveling with the Kings on their four-game road swing.

it’s unclear exactly when he’ll join the Monarchs — or how many games he’ll play — but Kings Insider has confirmed the move.

The news of his return is big for Los Angeles and USA Hockey. Earlier this week, a report claimed Quick would be one of the three goalies selected for the Winter Olympics, along with Buffalo’s Ryan Miller and Detroit’s Jimmy Howard.

It’ll be curious to see how fast Quick can get back into game shape. He’s missed the last 24 games — one of the most severe injuries of his career — and will have roughly a month’s worth of action to knock the rust off before the NHL shuts down for the Olympic break.

Pretty cool opportunity for some career AHL players to take on the guy who might soon be starting for the U.S. Olympic team.

I understand Miller completely (.927 save %). What I do not understand is talking about Howard (.906%) and Quick (.905) where both have also been injured, and not instead including Ben Bishop, who’s healthy and has .936.

Why do we want to leave off our best?

    THANK GOD …

That was a pivotal decision and stand. If the rebels had taken that Culp’s Hill, they would have likely won the battle. The eastern Union army had lost so many times public support would have collapsed, and the confederacy may well have gotten support from Europe.

The tough thing for the selection group is that they have no idea how ‘quick” he returns to his former abilities.

“QUICK’S DIVISION WILL BE ON THE FIELD WITHIN THE HOUR !”

        Happy New Year Solutions !

So true friend and thank God that Buford had the foresight and fortitude to make a stand right ‘then & there’ on day one eh ? … for had he done otherwise, then no doubt there would have been the ‘devil to pay’ ! I love history and American history in particular. And as God is my witness, I ‘will’ one day make a visit to Gettysburg and the surrounding area ! :)

General Quenneville: Major, can you identify those people ?

Major Toews: Yes sir … those are the Black Hats, attached to Quick’s division !

General Quenneville: Well I’ll be damned !

I get your historical clips a lot better than you Elvis ones (and personally prefer the music and songwriting of Elvis Costello)
