Howard to start tonight in Nashville

Jimmy Howard

Jimmy Howard will start in goal for Detroit against Nashville tonight, according to the Red Wings’ Twitter account.

Howard (MCL sprain) hasn’t played since Dec. 10. The 29-year-old tweaked his knee on Dec. 11 at practice. He was 6-8-7 with a .910 save percentage when he was hurt.

The Wings have won three of their last four after going winless in six. They also play Wednesday in the Winter Classic versus Toronto, after which Howard will reportedly be one of the three goalies named to the United States Olympic team.
