Oh, shiny: Blackhawks share Stadium Series duds

Dec 20, 2013, 8:14 PM EDT

The Chicago Blackhawks rolled out their shiny black duds for March 1’s 2014 Stadium Series game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday, according to CSNChicago.com.

The Blackhawks Web site has all kinds of goodies on that look, from infographics to this video:

(Kudos if you don’t have AC/DC in your head right now.)

The team trotted out Patrick Sharp and Andrew Shaw to model the sweaters. Here are some of the highlights from the photo gallery:

(No, both players aren’t wearing No. 14 for the game. *Sigh*)

If you find the two players’ facial expressions just too distracting for jersey assessments, here’s a shot in a mannequin and a few close-ups for detail:

Like the color scheme, but the logo on the front looks ironed on and too shiny and fake. They should’ve left that as it is, because it’s one of the best logos in sports. Really like the black though.

The shiny logos are just a bad look overall, I’m guessing we have some marketing douche at Coors Light to thank for that one..

      5hit beer, 5hit logos

The red accents really bring out the acne on Shaw’s face…

    jhaegs

it’s not acne…it’s wounding from scratching and clawing…

the shaw vs leno paternity suit has had some unseemly battles outside chambers…

They are definitely the best looking stadium series jerseys so far, but that’s not saying a whole lot.

The chrome logos that all of the teams are forced to wear by the NHL in the Stadium series are below par for uniform quality.

Jesus, they are following the NBA’s folly in uniform design for special events. Imagination really is running particularly low at the design centers.

    Sheesh.

Did no one notice that they’re almost identical to their old black jerseys.

I hate these. So much. If they wanted to recycle an old alienate jersey, why not the black and tan one from a couple of years ago?

Or since the game is in March, they could use their old St. Pat’s jerseys. … Oh, right. Dallas ripped those off.

Anyway, the logo treatment is bad, and the straight black jerseys not only look lacking, they harken back to the dollar Bill days.

      Alternate, not alienate.

I like the shine on the feathers. These could have looked really good if they used it as an accent instead of plastering it over the whole logo.

thats the best of all the new stadium series jerseys. I’m glad NJ is sticking with the retro though.
