Canucks come back against Chicago, win in shootout

Dec 20, 2013, 11:12 PM EDT

The Vancouver Canucks fought back from a 2-0 deficit to grab a 3-2 shootout win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday, taking the latest round in one of the league’s best contemporary rivalries.

Kris Versteeg and Patrick Kane made it 2-0, but Zack Kassian and Daniel Sedin got the Canucks back into the game. Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville can’t be thrilled about Sedin being all alone for his goal, for one:

In a battle of competent backups, Eddie Lack topped Antti Raanta. Lack is now 5-2-0 on the season with a .927 save percentage while Raanta is holding down the fort for Corey Crawford with a 7-1-2 record and .920 save percentage.

Ryan Kesler scored the shootout winner, as the skills competition went eight rounds deep tonight (to the dismay of many).

The two teams have one more regular season game left (Chicago at Vancouver on Jan .29), so these matchups might be fleeting. Unless they meet in the playoffs again, of course.
