When you think of the New Jersey Devils, one of the things you think of first is good goaltending.* But that hasn’t been the case this season, despite the team boasting one of the greatest ever in Martin Brodeur and one of the top up-and-comers in Cory Schneider.

After 34 games, the Devils rank 25th in the NHL with a team save percentage of just .904.

But there was nothing wrong with the goaltending Saturday, when Brodeur shut out the Lightning, 3-0, while stopping 33 shots and earning first-star honors.

That performance was also good enough to earn Brodeur the start tonight at home to Ottawa, which will have Robin Lehner between the pipes.

In the NHL’s only other game (on NBCSN), the Rangers’ Henrik Lundqvist will face off against either Marc-Andre Fleury or Jeff Zatkoff.

*Statistically speaking, New Jersey hasn’t had elite regular-season goaltending since 2009-10.
