Evander Kane is ‘more than day-to-day’ with a ‘lower-body ailment’

Winnipeg forward Evander Kane hasn’t played since suffering a “lower-body ailment” on Nov. 29 versus Philadelphia. And he won’t play “in the next few games,” according to Jets coach Claude Noel.

“He’s more than day-to-day,” Noel said today. “He hasn’t skated with us for a while.”

What exactly is wrong with Kane isn’t clear, and may even be a slight mystery for the Jets. Noel would only say that the club is doing its “due diligence and research” and that the injury is “coming along slower than we anticipated.”

Kane, 22, has seven goals and seven assists in 26 games.

The Jets (14-14-4) host Colorado Thursday and Dallas Saturday.

Unfortunately the Jets are not 14-4-4.

      No, they are not. Thanks.

At what point does it all blow up and become Kane requesting a trade? This specifically may be innocuous, but it seems like every little thing there’s something that’s not quite right in the very least.

I agree, pretty surprised he hasn’t demanded one yet based on the perception of his crap attitude. It could be a completely different scenario inside the room than what is perceived, but the media sure makes it seem like he has issues with coaches/management.

And I shouldn’t suggest it’s Kane that would demand a trade, perhaps the Jets just get fed up and move him if there really is any kind of issue (and assuming they can get a return worth moving him for). I’d think the Jets would have some suitors either way.

I’ll add apparently the people in Winnipeg don’t hear about the rumoured strife that’s supposedly going on unless you consider outside/national sources. How much of an issue there actually is could well be overblown when perhaps in reality the people of Winnipeg and team really like him in the lineup.
