Saturday’s game between the Dallas Stars and Philadelphia Flyers quickly turned into the Tyler Seguin Show.

The Stars’ forward recorded a natural hat trick as part of Dallas’ four-goal eruption in the second period, on route to a 5-1 win over the visiting Flyers. The four-point performance ended a recent funk for Seguin, in which he had been held without a point in each of his last five games prior to Saturday.

Three of Dallas’ four second-period goals came in the span of one minute and two seconds, toward the end of the period.

Rookie Valeri Nichushkin, the Stars’ first-round pick, 10th overall in this year’s NHL Draft, had four points, including a trio of helpers on Seguin’s goals.

The 18-year-old Nichushkin has been on a recent hot streak, with seven points in his last three games.

Flyers’ goalie Steve Mason took the loss, allowing four goals on 26 shots. Saturday’s game marked the first time this season Mason allowed four goals in a single game.

Flyers’ defenseman Kimmo Timonen suffered an upper-body injury in the loss and is now listed as day-to-day, as per CSN Philadelphia.

The Rinaldo situation was just like Emery’s attack on Holtby. They didn’t crack down on Emery and so that punk Rinaldo pulls the same crap.

Pretty sure that is a suspension in the rule book. Good win by the Stars.

how is this the same? Emery not only jumped an unsuspecting goalie, he pounded him in the back of the head like 10 times, Rinaldo threw 2 punches before stopping and it was against a more experienced fighter who im assuming Rinaldo thought would fight back, of course the last punch was ridiculous and past the point of thinking he would fight back

Both emery and Rinaldo jumped players who had no interest in fighting.

You seriously must not watch hockey at all. Roussel is a known rat. His sole job is to get under opposing players skin. He did his job and Rinaldo took the bait. The real punk in this situation is Roussel but don’t let that get in the way of you forming a subjective opinion.

Yes. The real punk is the guy that got ambushed and sucker punched. What a punk that guy is for doing that

      • broadstreetbeatdown - Dec 7, 2013 at 10:44 PM

The only one that got suckered was Rinaldo. Suckered into taking a boneheaded slew of penalties.

I think that the NHL should crack down on Rinaldo. They should force him to change his style of play. He can still be an enforcer without being reckless on the ice and that was reckless what he did today. I think the NHL should fine or suspend him to send a message. When Rinaldo actually plays hockey his a pretty decent hockey player.

The Flyers have played really Bipolar on their road trip , never know what team’s fixin to show up each night

It’s a near impossible task for the Flyers to make the playoffs. Too bad that they got off to such a bad start. Two consecutive years w/o making the playoffs has got to sting.

Umm I thought the article was about actual NHL talent with Seguin’s hattie, not the goon Rinaldo. This was Seguin’s SECOND hat trick this season!
