The Flyers will once again be without Vincent Lecavalier on Saturday in Dallas.

Today, head coach Craig Berube confirmed Lecavalier would miss his third straight game with a back issue, according to CSN Philly. The Flyers’ co-leading goalscorer (nine, tied with Matt Read) tweaked his back in last week’s win over Nashville and subsequently missed Monday’s 2-0 loss to Minnesota, then Wednesday’s impressive 6-3 comeback victory over Detroit.

Lecavalier, 33, doesn’t have a history of back issues but has struggled with heath over recent years. He missed nine games last season with a lower-body injury and 18 games the year before due to a broken right hand.

When he returns to the lineup is anybody’s guess. Philly’s in the midst of a six-game road trip that continues on Monday in Ottawa and Wednesday in Chicago.

this may be good for the Flyers. even though the wins weren’t coming, Vinny’s heart helped hold them above water mentally when they were in the basement of the Metro. now that they’ve got a bit of a grasp on where the team is as a whole, propping themselves up without Vinny may do wonders for the latter-season. IF they prop themselves up, that is. I kinda wish he got hurt about a week or two later though. Flyers aren’t out of the woods yet, but well on their way.

I would obviously prefer that he be healthy, but if he rests a few games here and there, so be it. As long as he is healthy if/when they make the playoffs. He is an older player and I thnik the Flyers just want to make the playoffs and hope the team is healthy going into the postseason.
