Video: Bryzgalov won’t return after collision, will know more Monday

Dec 1, 2013, 9:03 PM EDT

Ilya Bryzgalov has experienced quite the roller coaster since earning a shutout in his first start with Edmonton on Thursday. Sunday typified that as he experienced highs (keeping the Oilers in a game against the Stars) and a troubling low, as Dallas forward Ryan Garbutt knocked him out of the game via a collision.

Update (9:13 pm ET): Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins didn’t provide an update regarding Bryzgalov’s upper-body injury, saying they’ll know more on Monday.

Garbutt was already a thorn in Breezy’s side on Sunday, as his shorthanded goal was the lone shot (out of 29) to beat Bryzgalov through 36:19 of game time.

Garbutt, 28, has already been suspended by the NHL once this season:

He didn’t receive a penalty on the play.

Ha! Oh Bryz….. The circus never ends

Nasty comment. Never joke and take joy about an injury on a player. Karma’s a b*tch, and it’ll come right backatcha.

Pat… You can patmccock. I wasn’t laughing at him, dip s#!t. Just his constant circus. You sir can suck my hockey stick.

See there…. Now that’s a nasty comment. Tell karma I said hello. She gave me a great lap dance a while back.

Ah, mcfilthy. You take nastiness to a whole new level. The absolute lowest level.

The late, great George Carlin once said, ‘Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.’

Exactly. You’ll lose. My experience is remarkable. Enjoyy having Bryz, pat. OT won’t get any better than this

I couldn’t stand Bryz antics with the flyers but hopefully injury isn’t serious.

It kinda looked like knee to head. It’s unfortunate – Edmonton despirately needed good goalteading, and including tonight, Bryz has a .939 save %.

    • flyerspsu - Dec 2, 2013 at 5:38 PM

its been 3 games … and its a .928 sv % … in 3 games where he has already been pulled

Poor Bryz hope he’s ok. Always did like him, He’s a very entertaining guy.

Not intentional but was unfortunate. Hate to see that

  6. ChandlerMc - Dec 2, 2013 at 5:44 AM

I’d also like him to Pat mccock… and cup meballs while he’s at it.

Why the suspension video? Two very different plays.

    • patthehockeyfan - Dec 2, 2013 at 7:38 AM

The story states that Garbutt (who hit Brzy yesterday) had been suspended earlier in the season for a hit. The second, suspension video shows that hit.
