Patrick Kaleta’s controversial 2013-14 season could very well be done.

According to reports, Kaleta is out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL, suffered Friday in the Rochester Americans’ game against the Lake Erie Monsters. According to NHL.com, Kaleta’s leg struck the crossbar after he crashed with Monsters’ goalie Calvin Pickard.

Kaleta began the season with the Buffalo Sabres, and received a 10-game suspension for a hit to the head of Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson.

Kaleta appealed the ban, but commissioner Gary Bettman upheld the suspension.

At the beginning of November, Kaleta was put on waivers; he eventually cleared and was sent to the Amerks in the American Hockey League.

Probably gonna be set back another 1 year from developing into a different player and half a season from reentering the NHL.

Damn. I guess they’ll just have to give the 9 minutes of ice time he’ll miss the rest of the year to some other young prospect.

“Kaleta’s leg struck the crossbar after he crashed with Monsters’ goalie Calvin Pickard.”
Sounds like a crazy collision. Pretty impressive if he hit his knee off of the crossbar….Not so impressive if he hurt it hitting the goal post.

At least the guy put in the effort every game and every shift, unlike many Sabres!

    Kaleta sucks!!!

Let me just say, I wish no injury on ANY player from ANY team…but Kaleta was gonna get his face pounded in anyway…it’ll do him good to get some test and think about how he wants to approach the game over the next few years of his career…of else his career will end sooner than he thinks.

who was going to “pund his face” I have yet to see it happen to him in his career…just wondering who said they were going to do it?
