Video: Devils’ Carter leaves game with lacerations after fight

Nov 30, 2013, 8:32 PM EDT

New Jersey Devils center Ryan Carter left Saturday’s game against the Buffalo Sabres and will not return, according to Mike Morreale of NHL.com.

Morreale reported on Twitter that Carter sustained lacerations after a first period fight with Sabres’ forward Marcus Foligno, and has left the game as a result.

The scrap occurred just over two minutes into the opening period. Carter took a heavy punch from Foligno, and fell to the ice. Foligno bent down to check on Carter immediately after he hit the ice.

Carter asked for it with two elbows to Foligno’s face before Marcus ended the fracas with one punch! And Foligno knew he did some damage right away by leaning over to see if Carter was ok.

Foligno checking on Carter at the end is what makes hockey different than other sports.
