Not much has gone right for Winnipeg on Friday.

In a first period where they were out-shot 13-2 and outscored by one, the Jets also lost power forward Evander Kane to a lower-body injury, one that forced him from the contest entirely.

Kane, 22, has seven goals and 14 points in 25 games for Winnipeg this year, averaging a whopping 21:38 TOI per game. He’s is in the second year of a six-year, $31.5 million deal with the Jets and his talent can’t be denied, but it’s no surprise to hear recent reports of  “tension” between him and the club, especially given all that’s transpired over the last two seasons.

They’ve committed to him with a pretty significant deal, so they better be able to commit to him elsewhere (and him to them) if this is going to work. There’s no question he has talent, so long as the things off ice don’t get in the way.

Maybe this will give him more time for tweeting.
