One night after shutting out the Nashville Predators in his first start of 2013-14, Ilya Bryzgalov couldn’t even make it through the Edmonton Oilers’ next game. The Columbus Blue Jackets chased him from the net after two periods in an eventual 4-2 in on Friday.

Bryzgalov allowed four goals on 23 shots, losing to his former Philadelphia Flyers teammate Sergei Bobrovsky, who madeĀ 25 out of 27 saves for his ninth win of the season.

The Blue JacketsĀ have been trading off wins and losses lately as their record climbs to 10-13-3. The Oilers have been playing better than usual in the last couple weeks with four wins in their last six games, but their record remains paltry at 8-17-2.

It remains to be seen if they hand a heavy workload to Bryzgalov to see if he can turn it around or if they allow him to duke it out with Devan Dubnyk for reps.

A bit crazy perhaps, but you can’t help but admire the guy eh ? …

There is no in-between with Bryzgalov. We learned that here in Phoenix.

Incidentally, I see a comment from my colleague, blomfeld. I’d like to take a break from the Battle of I-10 to wish my friend a happy holiday season.

See what happens when you don’t add a dumb video? People might actually like your comments!

      • blomfeld - Nov 30, 2013 at 10:43 PM

Sportsjudge … thank you friend, however I don’t come here to PHT in search of praise … on the contrary, my presence here is an effort to ‘lend ears to my heart’ while always coupling that with a ‘sprinkling’ of joy … so it has been and so it will be in going forward … Blomfeld

What is it with your hatred of the Canucks? Did someone in a Canucks Jersey beat you as a kid? Did someone kick your dog wearing Canucks running shoes?

Why won’t you crawl under your rock and hide already instead of writing comments about the Canucks all the time like some kind of troll douche bag?

I thought everyone hated the Canucks? Probably because their fans are one of the most arrogant in the entire league. And they’ve never won anything. Plus they always riot after their game seven Stanley Cup losses.

    • hammerhead5573 - Nov 30, 2013 at 8:34 AM

Aren’t you the same one who talks all sorts of crap about other teams and then when your beloved Nucks lose, you are no-where to be seen. And you wonder why some people hate the Nucks? Maybe it’s some in their fan base that these coments are geared towards. You made the bed, sleep in it.

    • blomfeld - Nov 30, 2013 at 12:20 PM

Question: What is it with your hatred of the Canucks?

Answer: The Canucks can’t surf … simple as that Einstein.
