Report: Teams inquiring about Habs’ Pacioretty, Jets’ Kane

Nov 26, 2013, 8:49 PM EDT

If Tuesday’s edition of TSN’s Insider Trading is any indication, NHL teams are at least testing the trade waters. That, apparently, includes at least asking the Montreal Canadiens about Max Pacioretty and bending the Winnipeg Jets’ ears about Evander Kane, according to Bob McKenzie.

There are important caveats needed, even beyond the “things can always change” note that comes with even the most valid rumors.

In both cases, the teams aren’t actively shopping their promising young forwards. It just sounds like they’re at least listening to what other franchises have to say before (presumably) saying “No.”

McKenzie explains why there might be some rumblings. In the case of Pacioretty, the 25-year-old drew some attention by firing his agent. Meanwhile, Kane’s had his ups-and-downs with the Jets organization; that includes the 22-year-old just ending an 11-game goal-scoring slump.

The odds of either being moved are probably pretty low, but it’s interesting to think about on a light night of action, eh?

Pacioretty I would want on my team, Kane on the other hand, na. Kids got a bad attitude

    • missthemexpos - Nov 26, 2013 at 9:08 PM

At least Kane has lots of money to throw around anytime he is in Vegas!

  2. sjtorpitt - Nov 26, 2013 at 9:19 PM

^cmon Ethan… Kane would help us WAY more than Pacioretty. Throws the body, scores, but yea he does have an attitude lol.

    • ethanmacleod1685 - Nov 26, 2013 at 10:14 PM

Yh no doubt he’s got some skill, I just don’t like the guy. Also, he’s one dimensional and probably doesn’t care about winning and we’ve had enough of those players in SJ in the past

  3. snipedanglecelly13 - Nov 26, 2013 at 9:24 PM

I would love to have evander Kane but he wouldn’t fit well with the wings bc he likes to hit.

  4. mikemaric - Nov 26, 2013 at 9:26 PM

Kane can come back to Vancouver. Need more grit.

  5. sjsharks66 - Nov 26, 2013 at 9:38 PM

I wouldn’t want Kane on the Sharks. He probably thinks it is because he is black too. ( referencing his comment he made, for you over sensitive types. ) It is really because his poor attitude. I would take Patches though, big body and can score goals.

Max can prob be had for a movie pass and a couple pucks. Too expensive.

Jacob Josefson, Mark Fayne, and a 1st round pick was traded from NJ to WPG for Evander Kane…

…in my NHL 14 Be a GM mode.

Thanks for that insightful comment, really added a lot to the conversation. Keep it up, your killing it

        Cool guy alert!

  8. operwapitsai - Nov 26, 2013 at 11:08 PM

well as a caps fan I wish gmgm spent his prospects on something like this! Instead of an aging, ineffictive Erat…..

  9. muckleflugga - Nov 26, 2013 at 11:31 PM

giving grown men nicknames like ‘patches’ hits the high nines on the barf meter…

right up there with throwing high fives around in the crowd when some over-priced jock actually does what he’s paid to do

    raaaaaaaaaalph, is that you

    • pepper2011 - Nov 27, 2013 at 1:11 PM

      overpriced?

I would argue they are paid exactly what they are worth. The market dictates that, not your opinion.

sure, I see your point that maybe Doctors, Cops, Firemen, Teachers, Nurses, etc… – should be paid more, but we seem to put a ton of emphasis on entertainment. People like Cops, Teachers, Firemen, Nurses and Doctors are willing to pay for Tickets, Jerseys, and parking to have that hour or two where they can escape their everyday stresses.

If you didn’t pay for it; then they wouldn’t get paid as much.

Also want to point out that you are question grown men with nicknames, Yet your handle is named after a fairly tale about giants and a mermaid? seems like you have your own arrested development.

  10. sjsharks66 - Nov 27, 2013 at 12:12 AM

Is this guy for real? Attention everyone, no more high fives or celebrating when your teams scores a goal. In fact, don’t even watch sports. Because they make more money then the average joe.

Off topic: The reason I bring it up is, Pacioretty would make a good Bruin, but we all know that would never happen. I’ll take Kane when he gets his crap together; ship him off to Dallas where nobody will notice his… age/maturity?

I wonder if the Bruins could make a play for Hall. Edmonton needs to do something and the Bruins have the depth where they need it. Some combination of Boychuck, Bartkowski, Hamilton, Marchand, Subban, Spooner, Khokhlachev (yakapov’s center), Fraser, & pick(s).

Obviously it would take a king’s ransom, but the B’s could offer it and it might benefit both teams long term. Orr is Hall’s agent – so there is that.

    my deal:
Boychuck, Subban, Khokhlachev, Marchand to edmonton

Hall, Marc-Olivier Roy/2nd rd pick to Boston.

    • shmillemse - Nov 28, 2013 at 7:11 PM

Never happen in a Million years Hall is Edmonton’s Franchise player the B’s don’t have what it takes to get him to Boston

  12. louisboi514 - Nov 28, 2013 at 4:57 PM

Don’t like Evander Kane, don’t like P.K Subban… Then you blame it on their so called “Attitude” Do I have to spell it out for y’all? racism isn’t always intentional or even consious (to a certain extent) you know.
