Datsyuk (concussion) to miss second straight game

Still feeling the effects of a Jared Cowen elbow, Detroit star Pavel Datsyuk will miss his second straight game when the Red Wings host Boston tomorrow.

“Until he is symptom-free for a few days, he won’t play,” Wings general manager Ken Holland said, per the Detroit Free Press.

Cowen received no supplementary discipline from the NHL, a fact that didn’t sit well with Datsyuk’s teammate, Henrik Zetterberg.

“It’s an elbow to his chin,” Zetterberg said. “He goes down, gets a concussion, and there’s no suspension.”

Detroit plays Friday on Long Island and Sunday in Ottawa, the latter of which could be interesting now for more reasons than Daniel Alfredsson’s return to the Canadian Tire Centre to play the Senators.
