A day after shipping out veteran forward Tim Jackman, the Calgary Flames acquired 24-year-old winger Lane MacDermid from the Dallas Stars.

Dallas will receive Calgary’s sixth-round pick at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in exchange.

MacDermid, who came to Dallas in last year’s Jaromir Jagr-to-Boston deal, scored two goals in six games for the Stars last season and signed a one-year, $660,000 extension with the club for 2013-14.

The former fourth-round pick had troubles cracking the Stars lineup, though, only appearing in six of the team’s first 21 games of the year. MacDermid’s last game came in a loss to Colorado on Nov. 1, in which he only played 5:32.

MacDermid will report to Calgary’s AHL affiliate in Abbotsford, according to the Calgary Sun.

so from their standpoint, the trade was Jackman and their own 6th rounder for MacDermid and the Ducks 6th rounder. baby steps i guess.

He was originally in the failed B’s-Flames deal last spring. Calgary obviously likes him a lot.

Wow, thats right, with Matt Bartkowski. Good call. Kind of glad it didn’t happen. I’ve always liked Bartkowski.

yes, the non-trade worked out for the Bruins in that they kept Bart then they got Jagr for this guy and a number one pick (go look at Chiarelli’s draft record in the lower half of the first round and see what that’s worth to the Bruins) and Jagr was ok while he was here and it isn’t clear to me that Iginla would have given them what they needed to be a Hawk team that was slightly better than them in the finals. . And they eventually got Iginla. And now when they have defensive injuries they have the depth to cover like they did the other night.
