The Anaheim Ducks have acquired veteran forward Tim Jackman from the Calgary Flames.

The Flames will receive a sixth-round pick at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in exchange and have recalled Blair Jones from AHL Abbotsford to fill Jackman’s spot in the lineup, the club announced.

Jackman, 32, has spent the last four seasons in Calgary after stints with the Blue Jackets, Coyotes, Kings, and Islanders. His stint with the Flames produced his finest NHL season in 2010-11, when he scored 10 goals and 23 points while appearing in all 82 games.

A hard-working forward that kills penalties and fights — he scrapped 22 times over the last two seasons — Jackman will join a Ducks team that’s been besieged by injuries up front. Saku Koivu and Jakob Silfverberg are still on injured reserve, and the club has already seen the likes of Ryan Getzlaf, Dustin Penner and Mathieu Perreault go down to injury.

Jackman has been in and out of the Flames lineup this season, appearing in just 10 games. He was a healthy scratch for Wednesday night’s loss to Columbus.

Going to the Flames for a depth player? Must really be hurting.

Meh, we got JayBo last year, and he’s been amazing. It’s crazy what a good team will do for a player’s stats.

JayBo’s not exactly a depth guy.

    i’m surprised hawks weren’t after this guy…

too many the dancers, too few the chaperones

with bickell gone, who’s going to keep hossa from chipping another nail or protect him from the phantom sniper hauntings his dreams

Right, he’s a top defenseman. I was just saying that there’s nothing wrong with getting a player from Calgary. ;)

Heh. Yeah, he’s far from the only guy to have a rebound season post-Calgary. Tanguay was looking well on his way to a big bounce-back year with the Avs before he got hurt. Hopefully he comes back soon and keeps the pace up. It’s cool seeing him back on the Avs as a veteran after starting his career in the tail end of the Sakic/Roy/Forsberg golden years.

No doubt, but my point is… Calgary isn’t a team known for its depth. So when you trade for a player that was made a healthy scratch by a team of Calgary’s ilk…it means you’re really hurting/ desperate. Then again the Hawks traded for Versteeg who was a healthy scratch for Florida. I made your rebuttal for you. Hopefully there’s no confusion this time as I didn’t think it was necessary originally. I guess some things aren’t taught in the STL. Any questions in the future, just ask. I’ll be happy to help.

Sometimes there are issues behind the scenes that cause a player to be a healthy scratch…

    Sakic/Roy/Forsberg- stuff of nightmares!

Galiardi is a healthy scratch for the Flames…
