Preds give Red Wings seventh loss in a row

The Nashville Predators now have a two-game winning streak as of Tuesday, coming at the expense of the Detroit Red Wings’ seventh consecutive loss. The question is: do they also have at least a short-term answer in Marek Mazanec?

The largely unknown Czech goalie won his second game in a row, also getting his first career NHL shutout, as Nashville won 2-0. Mazanec made 27 saves in the process and has only allowed two goals in two games.

Just when people began to give up on Nashville, it seems like the Predators might be turning things around. After a Thursday road game against Toronto, they’ll enjoy six of seven games at home. That could be the kind of run that propels them right back into the thick of things.

It’s a dour night in Detroit, as the Red Wings can’t even take frustrating solace in a charity point. They also lost Danny DeKeyser to a shoulder injury, so … bad times.

At least the Predators can show them that things can go both ways, sometimes without much warning, in an NHL season.

Another guy injured on the wings? Doesn’t surprise me, happens every single year. Seems like we always have injury problems

    Happens to EVERY team.

It’s time for Kenny to make some moves but I’m not sure we have anyone to trade unless we trade away our youth.

If anyone called about anyone not named Pavel or Jimmy, i’d listen very carefully

could it be that old olympic year funk…none of the europeans want to get banged up it would seem

in 2002 wings put together a streak like this, and they won the cup…

of course that team had talent, was trying to influence playoff seedings late-on, and had not yielded to the temptation of a comfortable mediocrity as has this team

    wake up!

Every team has these times, every season.

I’d rather the Wings work out their stuff and suffer some tough losses now… than streak impressively through the season and then hit the serious road bumps in April.

Pres Trophy winners only win the Stanley Cup about 25% of the time… the Hawks winning both last year was very atypical. Don’t care about the Pres… leave that for Washington or Vancouver to win again.

I think Marek Mazanec will be this year’s Viktor Fasth
